Can You Hear Me Now ?
I recently came across some information on communication that helped me to
understand why we tend not to hear people the first time.The author stated that
in order to have communication there must be a sender,and there must be a receiver.
However,many times we are busy sending when we should be receiving.That’s why
we don’t always understand them the first time.
The best way to correct the problem is to develop the skill of listening(receiving).
In order to do this,you need to focus on the speaker(sender).Pay close attention to
what they have to say.Try not to anticipate what they are going to say,just listen.
It’s a matter of developing new habits and letting go of old habits.You see,it’s the
habit of not listening that we have to change.

But she woud really benefit from the lesson. She often says she has a one track mind but really, she is so busy thinking about what she is going to say next that often she ask what you just told her. It’s very annoying. Most of the time she gets information wrong. She is an excellent sender, but a really bad receiver.
Then there are those that do need hearing aids
An elderly gentleman had serious hearing problems for a number of years. He went to the doctor and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed the gentleman to hear 100%.
The elderly gentleman went back in a month to the doctor and the doctor said, “Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again.”
To which the gentleman said, “Oh, I haven’t told my family yet. I just sit around and listen to the conversations. I’ve changed my will three times!”
Recently I had my performance evaluation and my super noted that I was a good listener among other things. Listening is definitely a skill that requires some patience and willingness to try to understand the “sender”. In my work place and church place you it’s important to have good listening skills to hear what’s being spoken and unspoken. This is a good post and I hope it helps someone.
