As we near the end of another glorious
Black History Month, let us remember what
the struggle was and is all about. As I had
said in my post on ” Rights and Privileges.”
In my opinion,it’s mainly about Rights and
Privileges.Then,I thought to myself.The
Rights and Privileges would be meaningless
without the “Freedom”to enjoy them.
If you can’t identify with the Black History
part of Black History Month, surely you can
relate to the civil rights aspect of it.We
need to realize that civil rights and freedom
are the ties that binds us ( all sexes, races, and
nationalities )together.We all desire our
freedom and we definitely want our rights
and privileges.
Now here comes the real shocker,
” Freedom Ain’t Free Y’all.”
Just think about all the people who sacrificed
their lives to ensure our “freedom.” It wasn’t
just because they had courage. It was mainly
because of their strong convictions about
“freedom.” “Freedom” not only for themselves,
but freedom for their families,friends,relatives,
and their lovedones.Their beliefs in “freedom”
was so strong ; they humbly gave up their
lives.
I read on another community’s blogsite,where
the author said that we should include more of the
Black History( Afro-American Civil Rights )stories in
our homes, churches, and schools.I agree with the
author. The stories should be told of how brave
white men and women ,along with black men, women
boys and girls helped and participated in
the movement. Not only white people, but other
different nationalities as well.[Nobody ever does
anything great on their own.]I reallybelieve that
others would want to learn more if they had names,
pictures, and videos about the non-black people
and white people who played a part in making
civil rights, privileges, and “Freedom” available to all.
Remember this:
Without History,there would be no,
American History.Without American History,
there would be no Afro-American History.
Without Afro-American History there would be
no Black History Month.Without Black History
Month, “History just wouldn’t be the same!”

Listen-up everyone,because we need to
beware of these four things.During the last few
years I have come to realize, there have been
many things that have kept me from achieving
my goals. However, these are the top four.
1. Me ( Yes,many times we are our own
worst enemy)
2. Not Asking ( Sometimes it was help, sometimes
questions,and etc…)
3. Not Sharing ( Sometimes knowledge,sometimes
information,and etc…)
4. EXCUSES (Someone said excuses are like our
behinds;we all have one. Also, excuses can become
a habit.Once they become a habit,it easier for them
to go undetected.)
Now that I have identified these
handicaps,I have to constantly monitor my efforts
to see if they are still altering my results.I’ve
discovered that it’s easier to fix a problem when
you know what’s causing it.

Just the other day,I was talking to my kids
about ” Black History.”While we were discussing
some of the things the people had to endure,my
daughter asked a wonderful question. She asked
why did they do all that marching, the sit-ins;and
yes, even the lynchings. The answer was plain
and oh so simple.I told her they did it for the,
” Rights and Privileges.”
That’s when our attention turned to the United
States Constitution.To my surprise,they couldn’t
remember their teachers discussing it in class. So
I asked them if they could remember the Preamble.
They asked me,what Preamble? I told my son to go
get his social studies book. I asked him to show me
what chapter they were on.Then I went to the back
of the book and looked-up constitution.Once again,
I was surprised.”They had already past the chapter.
” I couldn’t believe that the teacher(and I) had
dropped the ball on this one. I was so glad that I
got a second chance .
Now I realize that I was right on point in my
earlier post on ” Black History.[ We have got to
let our children know what the struggle was and is
all about!] The struggle was and is about alot of
things.However,in my opinion,it’s mainly about
” RIGHTS & PRIVILEGES “
We can’t just leave it up to the schools.
It all starts in the home,it all starts in the home,
It all starts in the home!

While listening to a song called “Online”,I
realized that the singer is oh so right.”Online”
we really get a chance to shine{shine, meaning
that we get a chance to show our talents}.
We can conversate more freely,we can approach
people more freely, and most of all we can be
ourselves more freely.Yes,just being “online”
sometimes helps you to feel more relaxed.Maybe
that’s why we tend to shine better
“online.”We can do many of the things “online”
that our “self” and fear won’t let us do face to
face(up close and in person). We also get a
chance to meet many people who we may of
never gotten the opportunity to meet “online.”
Why does being “online” helps us to shine?
I believe that the answer is different for everyone.
Nevertheless,we all are able to drink from the same
well of opportunity.Reguardless of your background,
race,nationality,or social status.We all shine (Online ).
Noone is stopping you from shining and only you will
keep you from shining. So everybody needs to just go
out and let there little light shine (Online).
— This little light of mine,I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine !
