If I Can Help Somebody !

Published by garryblanson under Uncategorized

                   I can remember hearing these

words, while listening to Martin L. King Jr.

In his speech he said,” if I can help somebody,

then my living will not be in vain. Now as I get

closer to the four and three(age 43), I find myself

thinking these same words,” if I can help

somebody “,then my living will not be in vain.

You see,I found out that it’s not

even about me.It’s about lifting up the name

of Jesus and helping somebody. If you can do

these two things, then your living won’t be in

vain.I know it sounds so easy, but we got to

remember that the world is teaching us to only

 look out for self. Also,as you will find out;

everybody doesn’t seem to even want any help.

My Dad has a saying that has grown on me.

He says,”the only thing worst than being

ignorant,is being ignorant and not knowing it!”

[ When you think about it,many times we

are guilty of being ignorant and not even

knowing it.] This is why it’s so important for

  us to help somebody.

When we help somebody,we give them

hope.Since they now have hope, they can give

  hope to somebody. A wise person once said;

” you can have everything you want,if you will

just help enough people to get what  they want.”

Interpretations

Published by garryblanson under Blogs

They say,”beauty is in the eye of the

beholder.”Well,when it comes to interpretations;

“interpretations are distorted by the thoughts in

your mind.”

What I mean by this is,whatever

thoughts you’re thinking while doing things ,

will cause a direct effect on your interpretation.

This is one of the reason’s why we must be

careful to listen closely when people are trying

to communicate with us. Listening and hearing

are two different  species.Just because you hear

someone when they’re speaking ,it doesn’t

mean that you were listening to them.

Listening is a skill that one must practice daily.

The more you practice listening, the better you

become at listening. When you don’t listen to

what is being said, your thoughts get thrown in

with the information and you generally get the

wrong interpretation of what was said.

       Otherwise known as misinterpretation.

Misinterpretations happen all the time[mostly

when we fail to listen properly].We call this a

lack of communication.Lack of communication is

very disruptive, and is the cause of many of our

misunderstandings.Once again,if we would just

listen;we would avoid many of these false

interpretations.Therefore,we can see how

valuable listening is to interpreting.

Many times when a person comes to us with

a problem. All they really want is for someone

to listen to them.

You see, listening  is how we get the proper

 ”  interpretation.”

” Self ” is talking!

Published by garryblanson under Blogs

”Self ” is talking, what a fascinating topic.

Especially when everyone considers you weird

or crazy if you are seen publicly talking to

yourself.Well, what about when “self ”

publicly talks to you.You know like when

someone asks you if you would like to play a

game that you really want to play, but” self “starts

talking to you and you say;that’s okay I’ll just

watch. What about when you wanted to apply for

that top position.Once again,”self” started talking

to you and you ended up throwing the

  application into the trash can.

If the truth be told,” self ” is your greatest

enemy(and one of your greatest assets).

Futhermore When you think about it, it’s “self ”

who’s always getting in the way, always coming

up with excuses why we can’t do this or why we

can’t  have that ; and it’s “self ” who we must

  learn to control.

[  Yea, you may not talk to yourself ; but “self ”

is constantly talking to you! ]

The best way to guard yourself against  ” self ”

is to constantly read positive books, listen to

  positive tapes/cds,and by surrounding yourself

with positive people. In short, think positive,

  act positive,and be positive!Also,use positive

affirmations to drownout ” self ’s ” (negative)

  voice.

Like Stephen Covey said, you are the

programmer. It’s up to you to program or

  reprogram ” self .”

Thoughts,Words,and Actions !

Published by garryblanson under Uncategorized

A  local author reminded me about

something that many of us already know.

As the saying goes; our thoughts help shape

our words, our words guide our emotions, and

our emotions regulate most of our actions.

Also, our environment as well as our 5 senses

play a part in manipulating our thoughts and

our thinking patterns. When we control these

variables,we are less vulnerable to “stinking

thinking.”Furthermore, we will be able to

  manage our circumstances and situations.

A book that I read stated ; ” There are

no hopeless situations ; only people who feel

that their situation is hopeless”.Which leads

us to this phrase ; ” As a person thinketh,

then so shall that person be.” If YOU think or

  feel that YOU are inferior,then in YOUR mind;

YOU are inferior ! Again,If  YOU doubt  YOUR

skills in any given area,YOU are not going to

do as well as YOU could have done.YOU see,

it all begins in the mind! Whether success or

defeat,it all begins in the mind.

My friends, here’s what even more

  disturbing.YOUR  thoughts actually have the

power to condition or program YOUR mind!

They can condition YOUR  mind for success

or they can just as easily program YOUR mind

for  failure.Consider some of the things you

have tried and failed at in the past. This might

be the very reason YOU didn’t accomplish them.

Often times we get so caught up in the

effect,we don’t even realize the actual causes.

Scientist have reaffirmed the fact that we live in

a cause and effect world. Meaning ,anything we

do or don’t do will affect the outcome of other

  things.

Sadly, many of us have been victimized by

  our own thoughts.From early childhood ;

YOUR  thoughts have been conditioning YOUR

mind. They infiltrated YOUR mind and have

been controling YOU ever-since. What was the

first to tell YOU that YOU weren’t anygood at

  something? YOUR  thoughts! What exploits

YOUR  fears and failures against YOU? YOUR

thoughts! What’s going to lead YOU to victory?

  YOUR  thoughts!

Well, I say this because I believe : ” YOUR

thoughts and YOUR  words help decide YOUR

   Actions.”

Little Thangz !

Published by garryblanson under Uncategorized

I’ve noticed that many times in life,

it’s not just the big things that hold us

 back.Sometimes,it’s the little things

that affect the big things.Research has

proven that most,if not all of our big

 problems,were actually little ones that

we either ignored, decided not to deal

with at the time or we just didn’t see

them as a problem at the time. We

need to slow down and learn how

 to recognize these” little thangz”.

        Futhermore,it’s the little things

that help give meaning to the larger

 ones.Take a cake for example,when

you forget to add a little egg. What

about the radio without the antenna.

These are examples to show the

 significance of “little thangz”.

     Now,what about our relationships.

Isn’t the little things that cause many

of the big disagreements. We pay so

much attention to the larger details,

 all the while,neglecting the smaller

 bits and pieces.

The same can be said about our

lifestyles. We are careful not to get

involved with things that would send

 us to jail.Nevertheless,we still indulge

in other “little thangz” that keep us

 from becoming a better person.

    Finally,think about the difference

between first place and second place

in a tight race. It’s usually only a two

to four second differential in the

times. Two or three little seconds that

 kept one person from winning.

What about you and me.You see,

I really do believe; it’s the ”little

thangz” that we do (and don’t do),that

are stopping us from reaching our

 goals in life.

     Remember this thought :

” Big things begin as Little Thangz ”

Beware Of Your HABITS !

Published by garryblanson under Uncategorized

    Here’s another interesting queston :

Are you making habits or are your

 habits making you?

I read somewhere that we form

habits and then our habits turn and

help form us. Take a person who gets

 good grades.This person has formed

the habit of studying. What about the

 drug addict.This person has formed

the habit of using and abusing drugs.

     However, in each case,the person

first formed the habit, and then the

habit returned the favor and formed

 the person.

     Therefore, we should monitor our

 present and future habits.Our habits

along with things such as our values,

 dreams, goals,successes, and other

 experiences help contribute to who

and what we become or do in life.

Failure Before Success

Published by garryblanson under Uncategorized

Well,I just had to blog about this one!

   Someone asked,which comes first ;

failure or success? The reply to this

 was; why,failure of course.

The basis for the reply is; there’s

a minimal amount of failure in every

 success. Also,it’s your failures and

your successes that helped you to

become the total person you are

 today.

      Scientist fail many times before

 they discover cures,cooks fail several

times before they find the recipe that

 they’re looking for.

I wrote this blog to help people get

over their fear of failure. It’s alright to

 embrace your failures.Don’t wallow in

them.Use them to guide you to your

 successes.

     Here’ s a thought to ponder .

The person who takes the most

 (calculated)risks has the most

 failures.However, because they

 have the most failures.They also

 have the most successes!

So let’s all just get over the fears,

go out and experience some failures,

 and achieve great success !

What Drives You ?

Published by garryblanson under Uncategorized

I was reading a book and while

reading,the author asked this same

question: “What Drives You?”

It really made me stop and think

about some of the things that  are

steering or driving my life.

Now,back to you.Are you aware of

the things that are pulling you in the

many directions in which they do.

You need to identify them, so that

you can eliminate the things that

are keeping you from reaching your

 goals.

    Futhermore,you will accomplish

 these two things :

 1. Know thy own self

 2. To thine own self be true

Marriage Model

Published by garryblanson under Uncategorized

It has been said ; in order to build

something, you should start with a

good model. One of the models that

I recently came across is the :

    L’ TRUC  model.

         The L is for Love

         The T is for Trust

         The R is for Respect

         The U is for Understanding

         The C is for Commitment.

[ YOUR commitment is the KEY ! ]

When you have high levels of these

elements in your marriage ( or your

relationships ), you have a formula

that will help keep your troubles from

 destroying your marriage.

”If you stick with the model, you can

 have  a model marriage “
